Black Earth is home to the popular Shoe Box store known for its vast inventory of shoes for every size, activity, and taste. It's one of the largest shoe stores in the US, with a selection of over three hundred thousand shoes to choose from. When you visit the Shoe Box, it's like stepping back to an era when customer service was the top priority. TheShoe Box isowned by Madison Mallards baseball team owner Steve Schmitt.

Black Earth Creek runs through this lovely town, and it's a Class 1 trout stream prized for top-notch outdoor recreation. It is a focal point of the communities it flows through. Still, it also presents a flood hazard exacerbated by the historic rains in August 2018. Extreme flooding occurred with extensive water damage to the many properties in the Driftless area. Carlos and Mike came to my home on 6/23/26 to mitigate water damage, drying out & preventing mold formation to carpet & underlayment on 2 levels, lower level ceiling tiles, and a small area of main floor ceiling. They were outstanding and cooperative. Everything was dried out in 2 days, and the affected pad & underlayment were removed on the first day. I give them an A plus.

Servpro came out to get my basement cleaned up after we had a water leak. Tyler, the crew chief, was extremely communicative during the entire process of removing the water from the wall and floor, drying out the carpet, carpet cleaning the the whole basement and even removed some spots that previous carpet cleaners couldn’t. They also managed all of the communication with AllState for us which took a significant amount of time. While I would have rather not had the mess at all, their quick and thorough assessment and remediation helped keep this from being a bigger mess. Highly recommend!
