History of Heiskell

The history of Heiskell, Tennessee begins with the first inhabitants in this area nearly 10,000 years ago. The Native Americans of the Cherokee, Chickasaw and Shawnee tribes were living here at the time. During the early 1800s, European settlers began moving into the area and farming became a major industry in the region. At first, the town was known as Corinth, but later it changed its name to Heiskell. When this town became a town in 1952, having around 100 residents at that time, it had big plans for the future.
