There are actually two communities in Pennsylvania that are named Garfield. One is located in the western part of the state, near Pittsburg. The other Garfield is further east closer to Harrisburg or Philadelphia. The second one is small, tight knit community with a small town charm. The eastern Garfield also is not far from the Plum Creek Farm Market and Creamery. The Market and Creamery got it's start in the early 1990s, Nevin and Mary Ann Rutt  started raising fresh fruits and vegetables on their farm which they sold from a wagon in the Fire Company’s parking lot along Route 183. In 2017, with a single soft serve machine, a small ice cream dipping cabinet and 4 part-time employees, Plum Creek Farm Market & Creamery opened its doors. The facility and the team have continued to grow into the operation it is today.
