The small town of Catawissa is nestled among the beautiful hills and mountains in central Pennsylvania. A large part of its borders follow the Creek with which it shares its name, while another portion follows the Susquehanna River. The town itself has been known by many names including “Hughesburg,” “Oskohary,” and “Catawissey,” but it’s current name is derived from its oldest name – “Catawese” – bestowed by the Native Americans and believed to mean “pure water.” The area began to be settled by European colonists in the early 1700’s and through its advantageous position on the Susquehanna became a locally important stop for boats carrying goods along the river.

While the town’s position may be economically advantageous, being situated between two waterways is not without its consequences. Catawissa has seen a fair share of flooding throughout its history and is considered to be at a severe risk of flooding over the next 30 years. I had a freak disaster in my home and I called and spoke to Melissa who from beginning to end was fantastic! I spoke to Melissa several times and it was professional and a great experience every time. The first evening the project manager Joe came in and explained everything to me. He was courteous and professional, addressed all my questions, everything he explained came to fruition. Nothing swayed from the initial game plan. Although I didn’t speak to Zach and Corey as much the work all of these gentleman accomplished was phenomenal and I can’t begin to thank them enough for their hard work.
