Scappoose sits riverside in Columbia County, Oregon along the Columbia River channels. Scappoose gained its name from a nearby stream of Native American origins; the word Scappoose means “gravelly plain”. Scappoose is a midsize city made up of roughly 8,000 individuals. Home to the Scappoose Bay, an ecologically important habitat for native birds on the Pacific Flyway, the bay also provides a popular kayaking spot. Local hiking spot, Crown Zellerbach Trail spans a nearly 20-mile stretch down the parallel of the Columbia River. The popular hiking trail is used by cyclists and horseback riders alike, established in 1964 on an old railroad line that was later converted into a logging road by the Crown Zellerbach Corporation before eventually being used for recreational purposes. The Crown Zellerbach trail spans all the way towards Vernonia. Scappoose also features the Peace Candle of the World located on Highway 30. Constructed of a 50-foot silo and covered in wax, the candle is still maintained by private owners who have outfitted it with a neon flame.

Fire and water damage in Scappoose

In February 2019, Scappoose faced major flooding causing damage to many homes and properties in that area. After the extensive damage that flooding causes, it is important to have a trained professional evaluate the best course of action for mitigation. Flooding brings not only water damage but the increased risk of microbial and mold growth due to the contaminated water. SERVPRO trains all our technicians to properly remove affected materials that have been exposed to flood waters and dry the home so that we may begin to rebuild each and every home to its former glory. Most recently in 2021, Scappoose was under threat of a wildfire that had already engulfed 50 acres of forest. Scappoose Fire Department was on the scene working to extinguish the spreading fire against winds that were causing it to spread quickly. We understand that fire damage can be one of the most devastating losses, especially to your home and belongings and we do everything we can to restore your personal belongings and to help you through the insurance process step by step.

What our
Scappoose customers are saying

Good communication. Clean work.

Andrew Sadler

DJ and Chuck arrived very quickly and had great attitudes. We had a burst water pipe in the wall in the morning and they responded fast and got right to work with water extraction. By evening the place was drying with lots of fans and dehumidifiers and looked and felt 100% better. They moved furniture and rugs and got under cabinets. Great work.

PNW Rambling

Every time someone mentions flood damage in Seaside, this is the crew that gets recommended. Their process speaks for itself.

Connor and DJ helped us with water and mold remediation after a dishwasher leak – they were friendly and professional during a stressful situation.

DJ and Connor did water mitigation at my house and did a great job. Good work and good service. Thanks guys.

Dennis Maier

We had a plumbing disaster. Servpro did our mitigation, packout and clean up. They coordinated with the constructing company as well. The results are great. I recommend them. I want to call out Sheila, Bethy, and Paula. They put in an exhausting day today doing the final clean up (very detailed and thorough) and hauling the furniture out of the pod and back into the house. Some of those pieces were very heavy, too. A couple of screws came out of the couch but they figured out where they went and put them back in. Thank you.

DJ and Shane were great with removing all the mess from the water damage. I highly recommend them.
