Managing Water Damage and Fire Damage in Alton Properties

Nestled along the shores of majestic Lake Winnipesaukee, Alton, NH, is a town packed with charm and surprises. It proudly hosts the only FAA-approved ice runway in the lower 48 states, which opens during winter when the lake freezes over. As home to New Hampshire's largest lake, Alton takes pride in its sweeping shoreline and rich history — including the first Steamer Cruise Line, launched in 1872 with a classic side-wheeler. Floating just off the shore, the Water Bandstand Gazebo (built in 1928) adds a nostalgic touch to the waterfront. Beyond the lake, adventure seekers can hike Mount Major for panoramic views or wander through Railroad Square Park, Levey Park, and the Mike Burke Trail for a peaceful escape.

The fun continues year-round with Alton's vibrant local events. On November 20, 2025, unwind with Guided Meditation with Karen Kharitonov at the Gilman Library — a perfect reset from daily routines. On December 4, 2025, settle in for an afternoon performance at the Theater Thursday Matinee, and when January 27, 2026, rolls around, swing by the Blood Pressure Clinic at the Alton Senior Center for a healthy start to the new year. Whether you're chasing adventure, relaxation, or community connection, Alton offers a little something for everyone.

Preventing Mold and Rot after Water Damage

After a water leak, things can get worse if mold starts developing or if structural materials warp or rot. Since these problems develop when moisture in your property remains unaddressed, it's possible to prevent them through proper management. SERVPRO® provides the tools and expertise for efficient moisture control within the opportune timeframe.

Typical solutions that help after water leaks

  • Using vacuum extractors for faster water removal
  • Using specialized dehumidifiers such as LGR or Desiccant
  • Opening up enclosed structural areas, such as walls

Dealing with stains and corrosion after fire damage

Soot and other fire residues tend to leave stubborn stains and may corrode materials. Vulnerable materials include carpets, stone countertops and metal or chrome-finished accessories such as door knobs and hinges. Preventing stains is usually easier than removing them, so our SERVPRO crews take steps such as pre-cleaning materials and applying protective oil over metal items to limit the chances of corrosion. We also use specialized cleaning products, including degreasers and strong alkalis, to break down soils effectively.

With help from SERVPRO, managing water and fire damage is easier.

What our

Harrine and Kyndra where so nice, they did a great job! ( There were at a clients home) And if * could recommend them personally I would!

Lisa-Anne Allen

The cleaning crew of Jessica and Kyndra was outstanding. They were professional, very pleasant, hard-working, and they did a great job.

Jeanne Picard

We had a leak for days so we had a lot of damage. James’ crew came on a late Friday afternoon of a long weekend and they got all the wet stuff out and they started the blowers. Jerome and Elijah and Paul and Keith and last but not least Dylan were awesome! I highly recommend ServPro and this crew. Dave L

David LaLiberte

The supervisor Carl did an excellent job of monitoring both his staff and the equipment. Pation, Keith, and Elijah worked tirelessly and carefully to complete their assignments. Any company would benefit from workers like these 3 people. Friendly, efficient and effective is a great combination that yields exceptional results.

Joe Lukeman

Rory and the team at Servpro stepped in quickly to help us. Outstanding communication and very comforting to know we had expertise available at every step of the way.

Joe McEachern

We recently experienced a leak which led to major demolition. Servpro arrived early every day for a week and totally dried the premises and stripped ceilings, walls and flooring. Each and every Servpro employee was totally professional while keeping us informed every step of the way. Very friendly as well. Hopefully we will never have another leak, however, Servpro would definitely get the call. We would like to send a huge thank you to Carl Campbell as project manager and Vidal, Rey and Keith for their exceptional work. If you ever experience a leak, Servpro is your go to.

Patricia Leathers

Today we discovered a leak [which had about 4 inches of water in our bunkhouse]. The ceiling was puckered in places and looked like it was going to fall down. Harine and Vidal came to our rescue! Not only were Harine and Vidal patient with all of our questions, they were spot on in getting the room looking clean. Can not say enough about these two. Absolutely wonderful….professional, great work and friendly.

Fred Leathers

The ladies that were cleaning our persoal belongings were amazing! They did amazing work and were so wonderful to talk with. Harrina and Pation made me feel very comfortable with the whole process and helped me through this stressful process. They met my dog and he loved them. He hung out with them when they were in the upstairs of our house. I can't thank them enough!

We had sewer backup this weekend, which was a real problem because my husband has a broken leg and is trapped on that floor because he can't do stairs. It was a mess! Jerome and Craig were super! They came, were very personable and extremely helpful. They did a great job. The power washer on their truck broke and instead of leaving us high and dry, they cleaned the bathroom by hand and did a great job. Also, were very thoughtful where they placed the equipment for drying, sanitizing, odor so my husband could get around. Great representatives of Servpro. I would use them again and recommend them.
