Nestled between Winnetka and Wilmette, along Lake Michigan in the affluent prestigious North Shore, the village of Kenilworth is located 15 miles north of downtown Chicago. It was founded in 1889 by Joseph Sears and incorporated in 1896. Living in Kenilworth offers residents a rural feel and is a community of tree-lined streets with its own sandy beach.
The village contains houses designed by a number of esteemed architects. Kenilworth has the largest collection of buildings by George W. Maher, a contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright. Maher lived in Kenilworth and saw nearly 40 of his designs constructed between 1893 and 1926. In terms of household income, it is the 6th wealthiest place in the US.
