Fort Shafter – The Oldest Military Base on Oahu

Fort Shafter is a census-designated place located in the City and County of Honolulu. It is the headquarters of the United States Army Pacific, which commands most Army forces in the Asia-Pacific region except for Korea. Geographically, Fort Shafter extends up the ridgeline between Kalihi and Moanalua valleys, as well as onto the coastal plain at Mapunapuna. A big storm peeled the roof off my house - water was raining down inside 75% of the interior, and all humans and cats were forced to leave immediately - a very stressful situation! The SERVPRO of Kalihi Valley team showed up to try to save as many things as they could by packing every last item in the house into moving boxes FAST. They packed thousands of items in around 2 or 3 days, and returned around 6 months later (after all the house repairs had been completed) to bring back the small mountain of boxes that they'd been holding in storage. I'm almost done unpacking everything and I'm blown away that of the thousands of items they put into the boxes, I haven't found a single broken item yet. So they were super fast, but they were also very careful. All the fragile items were wrapped with packing paper or stretchy plastic wrap. But the most important thing I can say about this company is how good the men who came to do all the hard work are. Kind, friendly, conscientious, warm people. John, Rocky, and literally every single person I interacted with from this company made me feel grateful for the support. Hard to believe there's people like this around still yet.
